    • Sojos is a great one and you add water and meat to the mix or buy complete and just add water, Bags start at $10. and up plus shipping rates a 2 lb bag of sojos can last about one week for a large/medium size dog and longer for a small breedyou can order or just check it out at http://wildemanorcollies.com/shopping_cart_19.htmlor at other site Raw food is great to feed your dogs and puppies as well

    • The preformed, freeze-dried patties for the raw food diet are very costly.Get yourself a good book on raw diets (I suggest going to Dogwise to look at their book selection, www.dogwise.com) and figure out how much your dog would need to eat in a week. Figure it out to how many pounds of chicken, etc. Write that down. Then go to a grocery store or butcher shop and see what is available and what it costs. That's the only way you can accurately tell what your costs are going to be. Keep in mind that you can never feed any previously frozen bones as they will splinter and can kill your dog.Additionally, ask your vet what he or she thinks about this diet. Salmonella poisoning is always a risk, to YOU as well as your dog, when feeding a raw diet.I used to feed my dogs a raw diet until my vet sat me down and told me of the dogs that died from it and the owners who became extremely ill from salmonella. You need to be informed of ALL the facts.

    • We use a combination of home made, premixed raw and freezedried raw. And yes it can be costly but we're feeding 2 small dogs and like the convenience due to our busy schedules. If you're feeding larger (than toy breed) dogs, the most economical raw diet is a homemade diet. Costs depend on exactly what you feed and what sources you have (store, co-op, hunters, etc.). For more information check out: http://www.rawfeddogs.net / and http://leerburg.com/pdf/feedingrawdiet.pdf and http://leerburg.com/feedingarawdiet.htmTake time to learn how to do it right (the above links will get you started). A correctly done raw diet is the best thing you can feed your dog but your vet may be against it especially if you're in the U.S. Most vets here get their nutritional education (if you can call it that) from the dog food companies, often from Hill, the makers of Science Diet. The actual risk of salmonella is very low as long as you use proper meat handling. http://www.fsis.usda.gov/fact_sheets/safe_food_handling_fact_sheets/

    • Depends greatly to your area and the selection of meat in your local stores. Just say no to prepackaged. Filled with crap and is overpriced.I pay 50 cents/lb for chicken and beef, and feed 2 lbs a day. So, $28 a month.BTW, ignore your vet when it comes to nutrition. They don't know anything about that subject.
