Has anyone every had to get rid of their dog?

What was the reason, and how did you cope with the decision.

yes we had a dog named ginger that my mom had gotten when i was born. we had her for atleast 9 years and we loved her so much. but she got old and got very sick and we couldn't aford the vet bills so we had to sell her. although i cried, a lot, i knew that she would be ok and that it was better this way. also the people who bought her said that i could come see her when ever i wanted
