Just moved to the University Area in Charlotte NC and I am looking for a reasonably priced, family vet to start taking my Cane Corso (Italian Mastiff) puppy to. I am looking for someone who has a great deal of experience with this breed. I've had several issues with Banfield Animal Hospital in the past and don't think I would ever deal with another franchisee again.

    • I don't know about their experience with that breed specifically. But I take all my pets to Coddle Creek Animal Hospital in Concord. If you go north on !-85, they are off of exit 55. I have had nothing but good experiences. You could call and ask about your breed.

    • Charlotte NC is a very long ways away from where I live, so I have absolutely no idea.I wouldn't be too concerned about being experienced with the extra large breeds, a dog is a dog.If a regular Vet can't handle or treat your dog, he/she will send you to a specialist. As a retired dog trainer, you had to take each dog as an individual & work with what potentials that individual dog had. It is pretty much the same with Vets. They learn about dogs & cats & the breeds or sizes are just individuals. A dog is a dog regardless of the size.Just find a good Vet.You can contact the national breed club & see if they recommend a specific Vet.

    • Your best bet is to call the source yourself.... Google it up or as stated, call the registry and ask who they recommend. For the most part, vets are just as capable whether small or large breed... it's more 'bout whether they've passion and exam your dog thoroughly that I personally look for. As far as Banfield goes..... it's strictly for the novice owners. It's a terrible place no matter where you live. Best to pay a bit more in the beginning then thousands for the 2nd opinion that should've been ones 1st.
