Has anyone ever heard of dividing a large dose of Frontline to accommodate a smaller weighted animal ?

I have not heard of that. I know they sell these products for various sizes of dogs and puppies. You may want to try www.canadavet.com as well. They sell a product called Revolution with is just like Frontline, but also includes heartworm medication as well, so you don't have to purchase the heartworm medication separately AND it's much cheaper than the Frontline in the US. They will ship to your door.

Yes, you can break these down into smaller doses and use on smaller pets. I personally wouldnt trust the dosing on a website....I have a "country" vet, and when I buy the meds made for the 100lb dogs for my 5lb poodles he gives me the syringes I need and he also tells me how to break it down and administer... he does ths with the flea and tick meds...worm meds.. earmite meds.... heart worm meds etc. I live in the counrty and so my little ones are constantly getting something because they love to play outside. Its safe, so long as you find a vet who will assist you in the break down.
