Can you train an Akita Inu to waterfowl hunt?

I have a 2 year old Akita Inu who can swim and smell very well, so i was wondering if it is possible to teach her to waterfowl hunt?

I'm not really sure it would work very well because Akita Inus don't have soft mouths like waterfowl retrievers, so your game might get torn up. You teach your the dog the same way as any waterfowl dog, but it might take her a bit longer to learn because it isn't in her instincts.
