Can i give a puppy who has allergies benadryl?

My puppy has alleigies just wanted to know if it will hurt her

that would be fine. one adult capsule twice a day should do it. but be advised, if her allergies are too bad she may need a vet to help her.

You don't give a dog human medicine. Take her to the vet, they will give you something for it. Most likely give the dog a shot.

My vet recommended that I give my chihuahua a children's dose of Benadryl for her eye allergies and she's never been better. Be sure not to exceed that though.

Ask a vet...but I already suspect the answer is NO!And how do you know the pet has allergies?Even aspirin can kill a cat, and chocholate can harm a dog...just because its safe for people dont assume its safe for them.Please...Ask a VET!

yes they can have it. mine has allergies too. give them children meds. go by the youngest age on there.

that's a pretty bad idea. you never know what kind of reaction your dog will have to the antihistamine and it'd suck if something should happen to your puppy as a result of the benadryl. best to ask the vet what might be a better choice.good luck.

Yes actually you can!Benadryl or antihistamine treats allergies,itching,etc. 1/2mg per lb. every 8hrs. (maximum dose 2mg per lb.)

my dog had allergies and my vet would give her a shot that would last 3 months or so, it was much cheaper and less hassle for me. I didn't have to remember to give her a pill everyday.

NO! BAD IDEA! Drugs humans use dont have the same affect on dogs! it could kill them! talk to your vet before you give your dog ANY kind of medication.

No! Never give your puppy anything unless you check with a Vet first. It could harm more than help! How sweet a puppy!! Sweet little puppy breath and paws. Take puppy to the vet so he/she can feel better and give him/her lots of kisses!!

Benydril can be given but you need to use the childrens not adult. I believe it is 1 cc per pound. But please CALL YOUR VET to be sure.

DON'T GIVE YOUR PUPPY ANY MEDICATION!!!! Unless you have a vet degree... which you don't cos you are asking here - which is completely fair.Take your sweetumz to a vet for help. You have no idea how your baby could react to the medicine.Your vet MAY approve it - but you should at least call and discuss before moving forward, if not taking the doggie in. What if it isn't really allergies? You need to be sure.Good luck!!

Vet told my mother to give her Maltese 1 children's benadryl twice a day. Adult strength is too much. But consult your vet before you give your puppy anything. Weight, diet, the type of allergy can make a lot of difference.
