    • Too much.. NEVER buy from a petshop! Those puppies come from puppy mills.. and all you will likely get is a lot of heartbreak and a huge vet bill.Border Collies are so common, if you are interested in one, you can easily find a border collie, or border collie mix puppy in a shelter or rescue (many times petshop puppies are not purebreds anyways, as paperwork is often falsified!).Try www.petfinder.comYou can buy a pet-quality border collie from a REPUTABLE breeder for possibly cheaper also.. a reputable breeder does genetic health tests on her dogs to assure health. You can get a referral to a breeder thru the breed club..http://www.bordercollie.org/core.htmlhttp://www.bordercolliesociety.com/

    • STAY CLEAR.Never buy a puppy from a pet store. They are poorly bred, overpriced and their health is not guarunteed. They all come from horrible living conditions and have unstable temperments. For around 700-800 $s you could get a well bred Registered Border collie from a reputable breeder. Stick to that and you will be sure to get your moneys worth along with many other benefits.http://www.akc.org/border_collie/Or adopt from a rescue orginization for 150$s.http://www.petfinder.org/

    • thats $999 too much for a poorly bred, sickly puppy mill dog. For $1000 you could easily find a very well bred BC from a reputable, honest breeder who does not abuse their breeding stock. Steer FAR away from pet store dogs. Behind those big brown eyes is a very ugly, disturbing operation that put them in that store for you.

    • First off, never buy dogs from pet stores. They are from puppy mills.Second off, that isn't that high of a price. Puppies are generally in the $800 - $1200 area, especially for popular breeds like Border Collies. Even if you look for a puppy from a reputable breeder, it is highly unlikely that you'll find anything significantly cheaper.

    • I brought home a Border Collie puppy just this past June from a REAL and REPUTABLE breeder. She genetically tested for CL, TNS, CEA and OFA'ed parents. She also did BAER testing of the litter as well as temerament testing at 7 weeks of age. She also spent a long time carefully selecting the dog that would be the sire of her litter. Her dogs are also conformation dog, with exceptional structure and they also are working dogs that can acutally herd in real life. This was a well and carefully bred puppy with all the right things done to give him the best chance at a full and healthy life. Do you know what I paid for this pup? $500Now I had to get on a breeders list for 8 months before my pup was ready to come home, but I assure you, it was worth it.Don't ever buy from pet stores. You can get quality bred Border Collies for much cheaper than that. Pet stores sell dogs from puppy mills and I assure you, it will be full of problems and health issues. You should consider BC rescue. There are lots of great BCs needing new homes.

    • do not buy from a pet store... please do consider adopting..... there are lots of dogs at shelters, you will absolutely find one that matches what you're looking for...http://dogtime.com/sheltersclick on the your location and choose the shelter nearest you....
