That is right, I have three dogs, each one needing something different than the other. Also, my whole life growing up, we always fed our dogs Ol Roy. Please, do NOT go into how bad that food is. I know it. I'm not stupid. I've done my research. It wasn't my choice. I didn't have a job (I was a kid), and my mom was supporting me on her own. We made sure the dogs had everything needed, shots, regular vet visits, ect. Food, being as expensive as it is, my mom just went with the cheaper option. However, I now have my own job (have had it), and want to switch my dogs food to something better for them. I want to get them all their OWN food, because all three are very different animals, so I know they are needing different things. The cheaper the better, of course, but I'm not afraid to spend a little extra on my dog's food (cause I know that will be the case)... So I will give all three of my dogs, and their ages... Any food suggestions for each would be greatly appreciated!Yellow Lab - 10 yearsGolden Retriever - 1 yearChihuahua - 8 weeksSo basically I need a good senior dog food, a good puppy chow for little dogs, and a good food for very active young dogs... Also, is there anything I can give my old dog for arthritis? We switch between giving her baby aspirin and rimadyl (not every night, just when shes at her worst)... Is there anything we can do that is more healthy for her?Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

    • Blue Buffalo has a food for everything you are looking for. It's a good food and reasonably priced. Also look for Chicken Soup. There are some foods that are called ALS (all life stages). If you got that type, you would only need a single bag of food for all of your dogs. I don't recommend senior type dog foods even for seniors. If the dog is over weight you could use a weight management formula.

    • I have a senior, puppy and adult as well. I feed them all Orijen (senior, adult and large breed puppy) . It is a little expensive, but in my opinion worth every penny! They senior food has seemed to give my old girl more energy. All my dogs love the taste and it's good for them! 70% meats and 30% fruits and veggies. No grains, corns or fillers of any kind.

    • For the amount you are going to spend I recommend that you research feeding a raw diet. This is something that does not have to cost the earth, is VERY healthy for dogs of all ages and for the older dog will provide a far better source of glucosamine and omega 3 to reduce her pain and stiffness (many dogs once 'switched' will either have their medication stopped or far reduced on this diet which is also better for them) I will add links to get you started on the 'research' side of things. It would also mean that you could source the food from one place for all of them and probably save some money that way too.http://leerburg.com/pdf/feedingrawdiet.pdfhttp://www.freewebs.com/krisannriorawfeeding/appropriatefood.htmhttp://www.rawmeatybones.com/petowners.phphttp://www.rawfed.com/myths/http://www.rawlearning.com/http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/rawfeeding/http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/RawChat/
