    • nothing. they leave them in cages and don't do anything to or for them. some of the cages are positioned over lower cages. the ones in the lower cages will get skin problems because the ones in the upper cages pee will drop on them. these dogs eventually end up in a pet shop across the country. rescue your dogs!!

    • They keep them caged in tiny cages their ENTIRE lives. Some have never even set foot on solid ground. They breed the females over and over as soon as one litter is sold, a new one is born. This is horrible for the mother's health. They deny the dogs proper medical treatment. Sick dogs are left sick or often killed, injured dogs are left to heal (often improperly) on their own or die a slow death. The dogs never know human companionship and never experience love. To the puppy millers, dogs are a product. They are not pets, they are not even animals. They are a product to be sold for a profit and that is it.

    • Puppy mills are cruel because the pets are used as comodities and not loved ones. The mothers are rarely if ever touched or socialized. They usually live in cages stacked up on top of each other. Most will even "inbreed" breed the sisters and brothers and mothers and sons which can cause all sorts of health problems. These animals are not fed properly and forget about veternary care. Once they cant breed or be sold they are simply destroyed.

    • Breed, breed, breed and breed them.Starve them, not clean their cages not allow exercise, Deny veterinary care, lack of water, left to walk in their own poo etc etc

    • They cram them into cages, typically five dogs to one SMALL crate thats lined with chicken wire thats rusty and pointed. They live their entire lives standing on the bodies of other dogs, dead and too weak move, feces, urine, bugs, and wire. They give them stagnant water and no food. They breed them until they die of exhaustion and starvation, then they leave the carcasses in the crates for the other dogs to crush and eat. When a dog fails to give a litter, they stomp them to death, or just throw them into garbage bags to suffocate and die.The puppies are cleaned up and sold to puppy stores (often with a fake AKC paper). When people buy them, it funds the mill to buy MORE dogs to shove into the little wire crates to replace the old dead ones.

    • it is cruel. the living conditions are horrible. some hold up tp 5 or more dogs in a cage that normal people would use for one. they are barely fed, they never get vaccinations and are only used to produce more and more animals that go to the pet stores in your town that could have viruses and stuff like that that they could have gotten from their parents. when a dog has been used as much as it can it is normaly slaughtered and occasionaly let free. they are not cleaned there more often then not abused and treated like dirt. there is a video on youtube that shows all about it and pictures of some of the dogs that are so malnurished that they look as though they are already dead. its horrible and needs to stop!

    • Yes, it would still be a mill even if the dogs were treated "decently." Some dogs are treated very badly, they have fights with other dogs in the cage and lose body parts, and are never taken to the vet or cared for at all. Some dogs are "de-barked" so that they cannot bark, and the cheapest way to do this is by ramming a metal rod down the dog's throat to rupture the vocal chords. Very often it also breaks the dog's jaw, but they receive no medical attention.Check out these videos on youtube. One is of a "good" puppy mill (better than some others that is, but still, would YOU like to see dogs that live their whole lives in cages?), and one is of a worse mill.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qdI2U6dgA8Yhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhjqBsOCiPsThis site also has pictures of mills rated "bad,""worse," and "horrible."http://prisonersofgreed.org/kennel-examples.html

    • Well, I can tell you about a couple of experiences that *I* have had with them.First- a friend of mine adopted a 6 year old doxie. This poor dog had been bred EVERY time she was in heat- starting at 6 months of age- so roughly 10 litters! when she had her last litter, all born dead, the "owner" dumped her at a local shelter. This poor dog had never set foot on grass.Another friend of mine adopted a poodle from a puppy mill. This dog, too, had been left in a crate every day of it's life. Litters were born in the crates as well. She has extremely flat feet (from standing in the crate day and night)- This dog was never socialized...ever...and had her first litter at around 7months old- to this day is VERY scared of humans. When she got her, they had to take her to the vet and have her sedated to they could shave her because her hair was matted to the SKIN. They nicked her several times, because the hair was so tight to the skin, that it was hard to get the clippers in between the hair and the skin.My sister adopted a JRT/Rat terrier from a puppy mill. This man had over 100 dogs total (once all the pregnant females gave birth) that were confiscated. Her puppy's mother was also kept in a crated- day in/day out. This guy had the crates up off the ground (with no crate pans) so that any "waste" simply slid through the cracks and onto the ground- that way, he didn't have to clean the crates. Because of wires on the bottom of the crate- the mother dog had severe him issues, because she would sit with her feet turned in so that her puppy didn't have to try to stand on the bottom of the crate. (Nearly impossible without him falling through.) He, too, is terrified of humans.Puppmill people do NOT give their dogs proper treatment- they keep a dog ONLY as long as it's a useful breeder- then boot it. These dogs live in filthy conditions, and get no human interaction. So, that's just a few examples I have from my own "personal" knowledge. As for ones I didn't personally experience, but have read about. Check out these websites: And, take a good LOOOONG look at these pictures! http://www.floridapoodlerescue.org/raid.asphttp://www.columbusdogconnection.com/MorrowCountyPuppyMill.htmhttp://www.poodleclubsocal.com/75neglectedstandardpoodles/http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/unleashed/2008/06/baby-on-tour.htmlAnd, if these stories and photos don't make you physically ill- then go ahead and buy a dog from a puppy mill.

    • They basically breed the dogs so they can SELL them. You are not supposed to sell dogs, adopt them. They have almost no human interaction and they live in a crate. They don't get baths. The dogs in the crates on top will pee and then it will go into the crate below them. They also don't get much to eat. Some EVIL people who have puppy mills abuse them. Some are nicer but there is still a difference between breeders (they breed and ADOPT out the dogs) and puppy mill owners (they SELL them. evil)
