    • Our puppy is also on a high protein diet. Our vet always recommends a "slow growth" diet. Feeding a puppy more protein and less fat will slow it's growth, but it's adult size will be the same (it won't make your dog smaller in the end, it will just take him longer to get there). This is an excellent plan especially for large dogs like Labs who are prone to joint problems. A dog who is "chubby" as a puppy or grows too fast due to high fat puppy foods will have too much pressure put on joints that aren't totally formed and will be more likely to develop problems later. Healthy puppies aren't chubby, they're slim! Keep your dogs weight in check (you should be able to easily count his ribs, but not see them) and keep him on a high protein diet. Your puppy won't get big as fast and it will make things easier for his growing bones and joints.Good Luck!

    • Make sure that the food is designed specially for puppies, and you should be fine. Blue Buffalo is some of the highest quality food that is made. I'd stay on it.

    • The best you can feed would be prey model raw. (NOT commercial raw) second best would be cooked, and last would be a High qaulity, grain free canned or kibble. Canned would be better than kibble due to the higher moisture content, which dogs need. If you choose to feed kibble I recommend orijen kibble. Also I reccomed adding water or broth. (no sodium) since dogs need a moisture baised diet. A well known myth is that kibble cleans teeth. This is about as true as if eating cookies or crackers cleaned our teeth. "Dental sticks" are also a waste of money and do nothing to clean their teeth at all. The only thing that cleans your pets teeth is by Chewing and gnawing on hard pieces of raw meaty bones. Or by getting a dental cleaning done at the vet. some high qaulity canned and kibble brands;Orijen (kibble)Arcana regional grain free (kibble)Ziwipeak (dehydrated raw)Wyson Au Jus diet (canned)Articles on the raw diet and pet food companies;http://www.acreaturecomfort.com/truthaboutpetfood.htmhttp://thewholedog.org/id19.htmlhttp://thewholedog.org/artcarnivores.htmlhttp://thewholedog.org/artTansition.htmlhttp://thewholedog.org/artdetox.htmlhttp://rawfed.com/myths/preymodel.htmlhttp://www.rawfed.com/myths/index.htmlhttp://healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2011/04/26/make-this-mistake-with-your-pets-food-and-you-could-destroy-their-kidney-and-liver.aspxhttp://reelrawdog.com/ http://files.championpetfoods.com/Myths_of_High_Protein.pdf
