It looks to me to be more like a cross between a Labrador / Staffie or pit bull. The ears seems to be to far down the head for a pit bull and the head too rounded.
I owned a Staffordshire Terrier / German Shepard mix. That is actually the exact same as a pitbull, just the ears and head and body are different. But they are pitbulls. Your dog looks exactly like mine that I had. The only difference is that your's is golden and mine was black and brown. Some people have pits that are short and stocky. That's an American Pitbull. Staffordshire Terriers have longer legs and are stocky. Their ears are also cropped over. They are adorable dogs. So yes, you're looks pit.
well looking at ur dog for a while, i have come to a conclusion, that may or maynot be an answer.buddy does look like he maybe in the pitbull terrier family, but unfortunitly that doesnt say much becuase pitbulls thems selves are actually cross breeds according to the wikipedia dictionary"Pit Bull is a term commonly used to describe several breeds of dog in the Molosser family. The breeds most often placed in this category are the American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, and Staffordshire Bull Terrier. In the media the term is vague and may include other breeds with similar physical characteristics, such as the Perro de Presa Canario, Cane Corso, Dogo Argentino, Alano Espanol, Japanese Tosa, Dogue de Bordeaux, Cordoba Fighting Dog, Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog, American Bulldog, Boxer, Valley Bulldog, Olde English Bulldogge, Renascence Bulldogge, and Banter Bulldogge. These breeds are rarely listed by name in breed-specific legislation, but they are sometimes included when the term is defined broadly and based on physical appearance.[1]"point being, unless u have papers on ur dear buddy, and there authentic not from American Dog Kennel (found to be fraudulent) then u could never be sure. but if he was and is in fact a pit bull, there is no way of telling from what cross breedhe is deffinatly addorible none the less
