At the moment I have an Alaskan Klee Kai and my niece absolutely loves it. My sister doesn't have enough money to get a Klee Kai. So I am here to ask what is a cheaper dog like a Klee Kai? Hopefully a pretty dog that looks like a husky or just an active dog. Please keep it a small dog. She lives in an apartment so she wouldn't be able to keep a big dog. Thank you for answering if you do. Please keep prices under like 100 dollars or 150 dollars.I am not looking for a purebred for my niece. My niece is only 12.

    • 1) I looked up a klee kai online, and its adorable!2) Try looking in a shelter for that price range, breeders charge like 500 for a pet that isn't even that rare (mini poodle, malitpoos are even more)3) Try a shiba inu. They are kinda husky-wolf type. My friend has one. she is medium small.http://caninecoalition.com/img/Shiba-Inu--0.jpghttp://diaperdog.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/fm_shiba_inu_puppy.jpghttp://www.breederretriever.com/photopost/data/735/shiba_inu_pup.jpghttp://www.dog-pictures.co.uk/images/shiba-inu-puppies.jpghttp://puppydogweb.com/gallery/shibainus/shibainu_gilligan.jpghttp://diaperdog.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/738637_shiba_inu1.jpghttp://www.kennels.co.uk/images/U.JapShibaInu.jpgThey are arounf the price of any other dogs. I found some for 400, and some for 2,000. it depends where you get one

    • Don't let your sister get a Shiba Inu- they are inappropriate for most dog owners out there. You really need to understand dogs, especially the more "primitive" breeds in order to successfully raise them. Some dogs on the "smaller" side that still have that "spitz" look are the Keeshond (http://www.keeshond.org/ ) and the American Eskimo (http://aedcaclub.angelfire.com/index.html ). On the smaller end of the spectrum is the Pomeranian (http://www.americanpomeranianclub.org/ ) Note that these dogs may or may not be compatible with your sister's lifestyle and living arrangements.Secondly, if you're looking for a purebred dog from a reputable breeder, you're not going to get a dog for under $150. I would suggest looking on http://www.petfinder.com for dogs at animal shelters. A dog from a shelter will be in that price range and will come with shots, a wellness check and a microchip. There's even an Alaskan Klee Kai rescue out there which may offer dogs at less expensive adoption fees: http://www.akkaoa.org/rescue.htmlRemember to tell your sister to research any breed that she becomes interested in. Spitz-type dogs are BEAUTIFUL but they are often more than prospective owners bargain for.Best of luck helping your sister find the perfect family pet.
