Can a pure bred Alaskan Malamute have a purple/black tongue?

We found a dog that looks like an Alaskan Malamute, but has a complete purple tongue...could it be a pure bred?

Alaskan Malamutes are a mixture of breeds, so, NO, they cannot be purebred, therefore, it's very possible for them to have a purple tongue.

Alaskan Malamutes are a purebred dog, i have no clue what the other person is talking about. Yes i believe they can have a black tongue its just pigment, can happen in any breed, its a fault by the standard but thats all it is. So yeah even if the dog has a black tongue it could be still be pure.They don't usually have them.

Alaskan Malamutes ARE purebred. I don't think they can have purple tounges though. I believe the only breds with purple tounges are the Chow Chow and the Sharpei.

The bluish purple tongue is usually common in the Chow Chow but has been found in dogs of purebreds. A Alaskan Malamute can have a purple tongue and be pure bred its just a gene mutation.

There are more than a dozen breeds that can have pigmented tongues. Some can have so many pigmented spots they look almost blue or black. So tongue colour has little to do in proof of breed. The Malamute is one of the most "unaltered" of breeds, retaining its original form and function. It is unlikely, but it is possible. It is not that uncommon for Alaskan Malamutes to have spots of pigmentation on their tongues. However it could be possible for a malamute to have so much pigmentation on their tongue that the whole tongue could be pigmented.

Only breeds that have a Purple tounge are Chow Chow, and Shar PeisMost likely a crossbred
