    • Yes, most likely it will, because malamutes have a strong prey drive. If you get it from a puppy, you can train him to not attack your cats, but there's no way you can reverse its nature.

    • Every dog is different. Not all Malamutes are prone to chasing small animals like cats. Any dog has the potential to irritate cats or other dogs that are in the household first. I've never heard of one breed being more likely to dislike felines than any other breed. If you get a puppy and it is raised with the cats from the get go, likely it will accept them as part of its family and treat them as such.

    • Not ALL of them will be aggressive towards cats. Its all in how he/she is raised. If you get a puppy and raise him/her around cats, I don't think you'll have much of a problem.I must say.. Malamute's are a tough breed, if this is your first dog or you aren't familiar with this breed.. I would advise to get another breed.

    • Well first of all, are your cats friendly with dogs? Also, if you plan on getting a puppy, then socializing it with the cats would be ideal so that the pup knows not to harm them. Usually if they grow up together, they learn to accept each other. However, if you plan on getting an adult, then make sure they are friendly with cats as malamutes do have prey-drives that if not subdued and trained, may be a problem.

    • Temperament, training and your ability as an owner to control the animals in your home will provide the answer for this. I know personally that if I had zero experience with dealing with and owning prey driven breeds I would not bring one into a home with small animals and hope for the best.

    • Alaskan Malamutes have a strong prey drive- Meaning they chase and kill smaller animals, so yes it is very possible it would kill your cat. But with proper training and socialization it should be fine.
