How do you correct an American Bulldog puppy?

We have an American Bulldog puppy his name is Bo and he's 3 months old. He nips constantly (and his teeth really hurt), he'll grab on to articles of clothing sometimes and act as if it's a game of tug-of-war (he loves this game and we play this with him a lot), he tears his potty pads up (and rarely uses them. He hasn't had his rabies shot yet so he can't go outside). We (well mostly my parents) currently punish him by putting him in his cage for time out or smacking him on the behind but neither of them work. How can we correct him so he'll stop being naughty?The vet said we have to wait until he's 4 months he's gotten all his other shots just not the rabies, and we don't have a yard because we live uptown an the only way he can go outside is if no other dog has been on that patch of grass.

The same way you train any other breed.Mouthing. Jerk away and make a great big ANNH sound. Ignore the puppy until calm. Then resume playing. This takes time and patience. He can too go outside. He just can't leave the yard.Potty pads. Throw them out and crate train the puppy. The crate is not to be used as punoshment, and smacking should only be reserved for life and desth situations. Show this to your parents.Edit. The only way he can get rabies is to be bit by something rabid. Go ahead and potty him outside. He has all of his other shots. To the third poster. First you shout NO and slap him then if he does it again keep shouting NO then slapping him then he will know that no means no and then you will just have to shout no and he wil think oh no she is going to slap me then he might stoop

1st .3 mos old and no rabies shots? look, get your dogs shots and then get his asss outside...yourself included in that...all you do ( and don't do) w/ your dog is "training"...the dog islearning where his place in the pack is...ifyour dog is nipping...thats on you...HOW do you play? rough house? if ya want nice behavior then you must teach "nice" by being nice...and rewarding...sounds like your dog has you trained to me...get your dog on a leash...take him outside...spendtime together..bring him back in..keep him on the leash until YOU get what YOU want...then ,unleash
