Any breed can be a house dog and most any breed that is well socialized will do well with children. I don't particularly recommend very small dogs with small children more for the safety of the dog as small children can be unintentionally rough and severally injure a small dog.

Definitely a german sheppard. I have a German Sheppard and a 3 yer. old and 2 1/2 yr old foster daughter. The dog is great with them. She never gets mad at the kids and puts up with allot.

Surprisingly to a lot of people, the good old American Pit Bull terrier makes a wonderful companion for children. They're clean, usually don't make it over 50 pounds and their athleticism, sweetness and durability make them great companions for children. Best of all.. they're everywhere. Talk to the staff at your local shelter for details. They'd be happy to help!

Well a very friendly and good for children is a beaglier.A beaglier is very friendly and loves attention it is a small dog and very well behaved. they are not hard to train.my younger brother got one when he was 4 and she was so people friendly and because of the Cavalier in them they do not bark as much and aren't the hunting type of dog anymore. It is a Calvary mixed with a beagle. You would love this dog

I had a beagle. She was a great dog when my brother and I were kids and she was like a mother hen when it came to my son. She lived to be 16 years old.
