What breed do you currently have? And what breed was your favorite? My family bred and raised German Shepherds, Rottweilers, and Dobermans. So they were always in my life but I have also had Akita, Border Collies, Collies, Cardigan Welsh Corgi, Beagles, German Short Hair Pointers, Boxer, Chow Chows, Saint Bernard, Australian Cattle Dogs, Kelpie, Siberian Huskies, Pit Bull, Boston Terrier, Lhasa Apso, Pekingese, Schnauzer and Labrador Retrievers. All the herding dogs actually were working dogs on our horse farm. I now have Labs and they are my favorite breed out of all the breeds. I was just curious to see peoples' experience with breeds and their favorite.

    • Wow that's a lot of dogs!Pit bull terriers are the one breed my family has consistently had throughout my life, but we've also had 1 Rottweiler, 2 black Labs, 1 Staffordshire bull terrier, a Golden Retriever, and a few pit mixes. The staffy was a pretty amazing dog. Truly a "nanny" dog...you just don't understand until you have one. He wouldn't go to bed at night until he had checked on every person in the house. After he had made his rounds he would sleep in the hallway in between the kids' rooms. My brother was 2 at the time and if he was playing outside the dog would follow him everywhere and not let him leave the front yard. He would kind of herd him back towards the house. I have to say my golden retriever is my favorite...just because he's never had a bad day in his life, and everyone he meets is his new best friend :)

    • Currently 2 pomeraniansFavorite: German ShepherdsHad in past. 5 German Shepherds, 2 German Shepherd mixes. 1 Toy Poodle, 2 Irish Setters, 1 Keeshond, 1 Siberian Husky

    • currently have : mini schnauzer (hubby's) minpin (mine:))have had: chocolate lab/mastiffi really love them more for their personality than the way they looked. my lab i loved how much she loved to go swimming with me, and for a lab she was so laid back compared to my other dogs.minpin:he is just a ball of energy, but i like how he kinda does his own thing most of the time, but knows when i am upset.mini schnauzer: omg he is SO vocal. i love how all the vocalizations sound so different and over time i have learned their meanings ( what was that noise? there is someone at the door? you left me! etc)all in all i just love them for who they are

    • Growing up, my family first had a German shepherd / husky mix, Sam (Samantha), that my mom had before my parents married. She was a lighter version of this dog: http://files.dogster.com/pix/dogs/69/747369/747369_1228989213.jpgWhile she was still alive, we got a German shepherd / rough collie puppy, Doc (named for Murdock of 'The A Team', lol) - boy, was he handsome and smart as a whip, he looked just like this English shepherd but with a darker mask: http://www.theadelarose.com/Hannah11-1.bmp/Hannah11-1-full;init:.bmp. He more resembled this fellow http://www.englishshepherdcentral.com/images/max4.jpg but had a more beautiful face.Old Sam died of old age and when Doc was a few years old we got new Sam. She had Rottweiler, husky, possibly German shepherd, and I'm convinced some kind of hound because she just had that bay when she flushed rabbits. She sort of resembled this: http://braveheartrescueinc.com/images/r2__16_.jpg but had nicer coloration and a more well-defined head.I grew up on a small farm, and money was VERY tight. When Doc developed bloat, we didn't take him to the vet - we shot him. He was maybe around 6 or 7. When new Sam developed a tumor, we didn't take her to the vet - we let it grow until it was the size of a football, then we shot her. I was in 11th or 12th grade at that point. I still miss them both. And now I'm getting a purebred redbone coonhound pup in about 11 weeks. : ) I expect he'll resemble these pups:http://puppydogweb.com/gallery/redbonecoonhound/redbonecoonhound_angiemelson.jpghttp://i.ehow.com/images/GlobalPhoto/Articles/2244827/digger4-main_Full.jpghttp://www.dogbreedinfo.com/images14/RedboneCoonhoundpuppyP1170191.JPGAs far as purebreds go, I also like the Bernese Mt. Dogs, Spinone Italiano, German shepherd, Basset Artesian Normand, Chihuahua, English Cocker Spaniels, Welsh Springer Spaniel, American Foxhound, Airedale, Doberman Pinscher, Pointer, Standard Poodle, American Staffordshire Terrier, American Bulldog, and Labrador Retriever. I hope to own at least 1 of each someday : )

    • I've had a Beagle and a Yorkshire Terrier, though I am getting a Dalmatian soon. Between the Beagle and the Yorkshire Terrier, I'd have to say that the Beagle was my favorite. He was friendlier to people in general, while the Yorkie only really likes my mom.
