    • I suppose you have seen the video from Peta that they claim is about Iams? It isn't true. But Purina makes a good food, Pro Plan and it comes in formulas that will help your dog not gain weight.

    • ANY decent brand of DRY***ADULT*** feed is FINE!! And...IAMS is GREAT!!! PETA ***LIES***!!! ALL AR/humaniac/peta-NUTZ *LIE*!!ALL THE TIME! ABOUT *EVERYTHING*!!!Obviously,if your dog gets FAT...FEED ***LESS***!!!duh.....???

    • Hi,if you live in the uk there is a great firm called Prize choice who specialise in Grade 1 frozen minced meats. All you have to do is defrost it and feed it to your dog. They also deliver online or they will supply a list of shops near you that sell it. I feed the meats to my Bull Terrier and Lurcher and they thrive on them, both are fit have glossy coats and cannot wait till their next meal. I thoroughly recommend this way of feeding.

    • Canidae---all natural human grade food, although there are other human grades too, if you switch do it gradually mixing it with his current food for a while. All of the top brands~purina, iams, pedigree, eukenuba ,science diet are crap in a bag, you can tell because the first ingredients are corn or some kind of corn product, that is a filler only with no benefit to your dog. Also a HUGE allergen.Diamond, nutra max, chicken soup are some good ones although not always easy to find, you can order some from online , buy at pet stores or feed stores.

    • I have a golden retriever, and he has food allergies. I learned from someone who specializes in dogs (not a vet) that if you go and see a vet and ask them about what food to give your dog they will tell you Science Diet or Iams. Do not give them Science Diet no matter how much the vet tells you it's good for them. Science diet takes dead dogs and cats that have been put to sleep from clinics and grind it all up and put it in the dog food. When I found this out I switched the dog food immediately to Purina something. It's like all natural and it's a soy based food. If that isn't working for you then get California Natural. It's completely organic and good for your dog. ANd another options is... buy meat and bake it, then chop it up. Preferably chicken because it's very cheap and full of protein. I hope my answer helped you and good luck!

    • Check out www.spoiled-rotten-pets.com look under the Payton IA section. They have some of the best dog food available today. They sell them or you can order from the manufacturer or some are most likely available in your area. These are all very high quality food with no cron or wheat and no by products made from natural ingredients. All of these are going to be far supeior to what is available at the pet stores or grocery store.

    • I have done extensive research on this myself. I have a three year old German Shepherd with allergies, weight issues and seperation anxiety. I used to use Avo Derm which did do a decent job. Recently I visited a small local pet store and was speaking with the owner who has dogs with the same issues. She found Natural Balance worked the best for her. I went home and researced the heck out of it compairing it to other brands and concluded that it was definately worth a try. It tends to be a little more expensive than other brands but it has been worth it. My dog looks and feels great. Her coat is so soft and shiny. This is the only meal she will ever get for the rest of her life so I want it to be the best for her and I want her to enjoy it. Please check them out at http://www.naturalbalanceinc.com/dogformulas/home.html

    • Different pets are different in their eating habits so it is difficult for me to ascertain which is best.. I will give you what I believe is best and that is a mixture of Purina ONE and Eukaneuba... I think that Eukaneuba is absolutely GREAT for an animal but prefer the mixture of that with ONE(half and half)

    • Science diet is the best you can get they only sell it at petsmart and animal hospitals thats what i give my dog and it doesnt give them the runs it good for there teeth and its good for amunsitems and other things like that and it doesnt make your dog gain weight

    • Right now I feed my Foxhound Purina Fit & Trim. He does great on it (its low in fat). If you want to feed natural food, I would highly suggest feeding Nutro Natural Choice. I fed this for nearly five years and felt good about feeding it. At the time I was feeding this it was only available in pet stores and I don't live close by any, but I have seen it lately in feed stores and often some hardware stores.

    • INNOVA AND NATURAL BALANCE are the best!I've used Innova and Natural Balance logs forever, my dogs coats, digestive system, is great. Bright eyes....soft coat, healthy teeth and wonderful stamina.Wellness is also good. I use that for young puppies that I Housetrain fulltime, then switch to Innova puppy at three months.Good Luck!
