    • i haven't owned one but what i do know is they started calling German shepherd Alsatian during the wars because well German ... and just like all people they breed dogs to standards and thus developed a different dog. just like the USA version for the st Bernard and the Swiss version (USA was bred with Newfoundland to make it more bulky and the Swiss st Bernard looks more like an Anatolian shepherd ..so there all different in different country ect.

    • Nothing...Alsatian is a British/Canadian name for the German Shepherd...mostly Brit from the 40's and 50's...like "German Police Dog" its just a name...the temperment problem is mostly confined to the American Show lines....inbreeding..some of them have serious behavior problems..likewise health issues...stick with the European Working lines (Dutch,Czech,East German and West German)and you have the most stable loving intelligent dogs on the planet...
