Do Basset Hounds drool a lot or just mainly after they eat and drink?

I'm thinking about getting a basset hound and I was wondering about their drooling. I already have a black lab and she drools on the time, non-stop. I was just wondering if a basset hound also drools non-stop.

    • Basset Hounds are great dogs, but they are not for everybodyHere is information on the breed that will help you decide whether or not this breed is right for you.http://www.yourpurebredpuppy.com/reviews/bassethounds.htmlhttp://www.akc.org/breeds/basset_hound/http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/bassethound.htmhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basset_Hound

    • I personally have 2 bassets and the girl NEVER drools unless you count after she drinks the water drips off of her jowls where as the basset boy only drools when he is either excited by scents around him or is super hot. I have known bassets who are really drooly and and some who are not. It depends on the dog itself. Also as someone else said, do your homework on this breed, they are an amazing breed (personally my all time favorite) but just aren't right for some people. They are more then just a cute, sad face with floppy ears. They usually need to be inside with the family or some other dog because they are "pack" animals and need to feel a sense of companionship. Anyways if you are going to get one after you do your homework, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE find a basset rescue and adopt one. Thanks
