it depends. how big is your beagle (height and length)?

depends on if you have a what they call a 13 inch beagle or a 15 inch beagle. 25 lbs. for 15 inch beagle but don't feel bad I had a 45 lb beagle and she lived for 16 years. Shame on me.

A quick technique I use is to press my fingers against my beagles rib cage. If I can't feel each individual rib because of the layer of fat is too thick I start measures to slim her down a little.
