Why does my Dog keep licking the bottoms of his paws?

just wondering if anyone knows why my dog is biting and licking the bottoms of his paws. It seems like he is biting at the hair on the bottom of his paws. does anyone know why he is doing that?he keeps biting and licking his front paws and its both paws, not just one. he does have fleas also. what do you think?

my cat does that i think after they poo they clean them self by licking them self

he might have something stuck between his toe, are knotted hair.

cleaning or if over excessive, maybe your dog has hurt its paw

It may be an allergy...dogs tend to lick their lower paws or feet due to allergies, perhaps a food allergy. Don't quote me on this but I think it has something to do with the fact that their toung gets itchy, licking that area soothes the tounge itch

maybe he has a splinter.maybe he stepped in peanut butter...maybe you should rub his paw and see if he flinches... he may be hurt.well, THAT edit certainly changes things! flease huh? poor dog!

he is cleaning them. my dog does the same thing. also if he scratched the paw or something...licking it helps heal the wounds.

Maybe they itch or are sore. It's also possible they are dirty. You could try relaxing him enough to thoroughly inspect them or you could take the dog to the vet if you think something is really wrong.

perhaps he stepped in some dog food or the more believable idea is that he has a splinter...take it out.

My dogs do that too. Your dog is probably just grooming himself because he went outside or feels dirty.

Usually it means that there is something stuck in there, a thorn or piece of glass or something. Try looking in there, spread his pads and see if something is in there, or if there is any blood. Might just be a cut too, but usually when they do this there is something stuck in there. No biggie, just find it and pull it out.

Sometimes Dogs do this because they might have something stuck in between the pads and it is irritating their foot. Another option is that your dog may have allergies. Definitely take your baby to the Vet though!

your dog may be obsessive, or there is actually something there like glass or a splinter, or an ingrown hair. spread out its paw web and look for irritation, blood or a pimple
