My dog bruised his toe nail a couple weeks ago. It instantly swelled up and he began limping. I kept him off it for a few days. The swelling went down and he stopped limping. However, the nail remained very bruised near the nail bed. Now, the nail has grown out a little, and I am noticing that the new growth near the nail bed looks odd. It almost looks brittle or flaky. I am not sure if I should take him to a vet since he is in no pain. Any suggestions?
