    • Supplementing your dogs' food will help. Giving them more fatty acids (Omega-3 and Omega-6) in the winter will help combat the affects of the dry, cold air.You can buy skin and coat supplements, such as Vitacoat or Derm Caps at some pet stores, or through supply companies online. You can also buy jars of fish oil and vitamin E caplets at the store and add those to the dogs' food -- this is easy since you can't really "overdose" -- depending on the dogs' size you use 1-2 caplets daily. Some premium dog foods, such as Eukanuba, already contain extra Omega-3/-6.Hope this helps!

    • The dogs are itching due to changes between outside and inside, the heat in your home and less humidity. Even us people get 'dry' skin in the winter. There are several good commerical products on the market to releive this, some of the best are made by GloMar - kenic - emu oil cream is one; another is their oatmeal conditioning sray. Or you can get Aveno(Plain) cream from any store -check label to make sure it contains - " no scents "etc. also pick up a small spray bottle at any discount store put 1/3 cream into bottle and fill remainder of bottle with "Spring" or distilled water. Shake well, then apply to itchy areas take care not to soak the dog and massage gently into skin. The other answers you got about adding Omega 3 to the diet is very good and worth the effort and cost as it helps maintian skin and general health of your dogs. Also unless the dogs are into a lot of mud at this time of year - try not to bath as often unless you are using a detergent and soap free shampoo as this is also contributing to drying out their skin. Hope this has helped you
