Shouldn't your question be: How do I stop my dog from crapping on the bed? Ha ha I'm sure your wife would totally appreciate the question. Let the dog out to poop more often, stop letting it on the bed.
I would be willing to bet you aren't very nice to that dog, and the little surprise packages is your reward. Start treating the dog better, and take it out to go to the bathroom before bed, don't let it eat past 6pm, and also, invest in a crate, have the dog sleep there.
