You cannot say either way without taking a biopsy. Your vet could do a fine needle aspirate, where a needle is put into the mass and a sample of the cells are aspirated, as a minimally invasive way to find out what's going on. If it is a tumour to be worried about there are no other signs to be looking for - the mass is the sign and tend to be the only clue you get.Discuss this matter with your vet as to where to go from here.
