The first part of the tale (connected to the butt) was like thishttp://cwanimalbehavior.com/assets/images/fearful%20dog.jpgBut that last part of the tale was curved up to the sky like a backwards C.Sort of like this but more exageratedhttp://www.threebestdogs.com/wp-content/gallery/akbash-dog/akbash_dog02.jpgit not about breed standards. I want to know what the behavior of this dog was. First the tale was all the way up and sort of curled around the back (not a breed that does this) but i said eh! b/c he was getting to bold so it lowered its tale to way lowwer but then after a while it had its tale like this. What does this mean. Was he being uneasy, bold,?

    • depends on the breed standard for the breed you are inquiring about.that is a fault in goldens, labs etc.it doesn't mean anything.... just poor conformation** tail held high up over back is dominant/excitedtail held down is submissive

    • If you are looking for clues to the mood of the dog from viewing the tail, you are looking at the tailset, whether the tail is stiff or relaxed, and how fast its moving. That's all. High tailset is high arousal. Lowering the tailset is nervousness, fear or submission. Netural--in the middle-is relaxed. Relaxed tail is good, stiff tail is usually a sign of aggression or extreme fear.

    • They are relaxed and comfortable.( a good thing )The tail further forward and between their legs would be a sign they were nervous or afraid of something. Not so good, the dog may flee or fight. If the tail rises above the spine, that's usually a signal they are trying to be more dominant, but not necessarily aggressive. Not so good usually, but not always.Note the above is not for all breeds. For some, the tail is always well above the spine and natural.
