Is the Alaskan Klee Kai a real breed ?

I was wondering if it was a real breed or just a mutt or something of the sort. If it is a real breed then why hasn't the Akc registered it?Thanks!

    • 1. It's a real breed recognized by the United Kennel Club.2. It's recognized by the United Kennel Club.Eventually AKC may recognize it, as they did with some UKC breeds like the American Eskimo.

    • yes it is look it looks like a mini husky soooo cute!http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://old.pupcity.com/images/adpics/08268202640501_1.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.pupcity.com/puppies-for-sale/alaskan-klee-kai.asp&usg=__EukMt7KE9WOCPKmzO1vZt8x1ZY0=&h=225&w=300&sz=1

    • It is a real breed. There are over 400 recognized breeds WORLD wide.. AKC recognizes less than 200. Just because AKC doesnt have the breed, does not mean its not legit. The process to gain AKC recognition starts with the breed club WANTING recognition. Some breed clubs dont want their breed AKC recognized! There has to be enough interest in the breed as well.

    • yes it is a real breed. The UKC recognises themThe parent club has to petition to the AKC in order for the breed to be recognized. If the parent club doesn't want the breed to be AKC then the AKC will not bother, which is likely the case with the Klee Kai
